Success Story

How we helped a motion graphic company grow their businesses by refining their existing HR processes.

About Genesis Motion Technology (now known as Genesis Motion Design)

Genesis Motion Design, a Singapore-based motion graphic company, has attained substantial growth since their early beginnings in 2015. Specialising in services like motion graphics, animation, and augmented reality, Genesis has collaborated with high-profile clients, including Facebook, McDonald’s and Disney.

Rome was not built in a day, nor was Genesis’ success. The team’s consistent efforts have helped the company reach where they are today. Recognising the value of talents, the founder invests in Human Capital to build a sustainable future for the firm.

Goals

Refine existing HR infrastructure to support organisational growth

Genesis’ business growth revealed their need for a better HR infrastructure. Understanding the role of talents in building a more sustainable and scalable business, the founder began his search for customised talent strategies that could better engage and motivate employees and thus produce high-quality outputs.

With a clear understanding of the founder’s needs, our consultants worked closely with the organisation in the following areas:

  • Understand the team’s general sentiments
  • Refine compensation & benefits packages
  • Design and implement performance management framework
  • Develop organisational structure & role-specific competency maps

Solutions

Understand the team’s general sentiments

We leveraged TeamSight+, our in-house employee engagement tool, to better understand the employees’ sentiments, needs and wants. Survey results revealed a disparity in the workplace motivation factors between the founder and employees. Additionally, it was apparent that employees wanted better compensation & benefits packages, more structured performance management, and clearer career paths.

Refine compensation & benefits packages

To craft attractive compensation & benefits packages that could engage, motivate and retain employees, we refined Genesis’ overall compensation & benefits packages.

We first conducted salary benchmarking exercises to identify market-competitive salaries and recommended salary revisions for relevant job roles. We then developed a performance-based bonus scheme that could help recognise and reward employees fairly based on their work performances. Additionally, we set up a user-friendly bonus calculator for the founder’s ease of use.

Considering employees’ needs and wants, we recommended a holistic range of benefits, from health and wellness payouts to upskilling support, ensuring that the team’s welfare and professional growth were taken care of.

Design and implement performance management framework

Our survey also discovered that employees lacked motivation due to the unstructured performance management. Thus, we developed a performance management system that helped Genesis measure employee performance, reward excellence and bridge skill gaps.

We also conducted training for the managers to help them gain a better understanding of how to monitor and evaluate employees’ performance. Such training included effective goal setting and the provision of constructive feedback to employees. To make it practical, we organised roleplay sessions to help the managers apply what they learned to real-life scenarios.

Develop organisational structure & role-specific competency maps

As the business grew, the founders recognised the need for an organisational structure that could accommodate the expanding team. Thus, we mapped out a detailed organisational blueprint and developed career pathways for each specialisation. Each job role in the organisation blueprint was defined through a role-specific competency map that detailed the skill sets required.

With the competency maps in place, the management could better define the key tasks of each role, as well as the competencies needed to excel in those roles. Moreover, competency maps helped managers to answer employees’ queries regarding the skill sets required for job promotion opportunities.

Working closely with Genesis’ management in the four areas as mentioned earlier, we conducted another employee engagement survey to assess the effectiveness of TalentKraft’s recommended HR solutions.

As a result, 1.5 years after completing the project with Genesis, we observed the following outcomes:

Results

56% increase in
Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS)*

23% improvement in average employee satisfaction levels

Out of the top 8 motivators, the number of satisfied motivators increased from 4 to 7

*TalentKraft’s TeamSight+ survey evaluates overall job satisfaction through the Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS), which helps the management understand how likely the team is to recommend a company to others. On a scale of 0 to 10, team members respond to the question, “how likely are you to recommend your company as a place to work?” and are categorised into detractors (score of 0 to 6), neutrals (score of 7 to 8), and promoters (score of 9 or 10).
