TRAINING
Effective business decision making
Help your team solve problems more effectively
Looking to improve critical thinking skills to make effective business decisions?
Better Solutions in 4 Steps is a blended learning program that teaches teams to more effectively identify and implement solutions to organisational challenges through a combination of online exercises, interactive content, and live breakout discussions.
The program is designed for a team of up to 5 people who will go through the program together. Where possible, they will apply the techniques they learn on an actual organizational issue during the breakouts, under the guidance of our team of experienced former strategy consultants. This aims to address two goals at once — developing solutions to an existing issue while upskilling the team to tackle future challenges independently.
Learning Outcomes
You will be able to make better business decisions by:
- Framing and defining complex organisation problems
- Developing comprehensive options
- Making good decisions efficiently
- Convincing key stakeholders
Some of the key activities you will be partaking in includes:
- Pre-learning survey
- Baseline assessment at Week 1
- Interactive online training(s)
- Live breakout discussions x3
- Problem solving practice
- Final progress assessment at Week 4
Program Highlights
At the end of the program, a report documenting the team’s learning journey and possible next steps will be provided for your reference.
Detailed Curriculum
The problem solving curriculum addresses a wide range of topics, and we will work with the team lead/purchasing manager to identify the most relevant topics for each team. For example, some teams may want a greater focus on financial analysis, while others are more concerned about stakeholder management and communication. The content can be configured accordingly.
As a baseline, topics that are covered in the problem solving training include:
Problem Definition
- Frame the problem and identify (true) objectives
- Understand overarching business intent
- Define constraints
- Diagnose root causes with MECE
Option Generation
- Define a robust, MECE option set
- Brainstorm – categorize – brainstorm again
- Better problem definition = better options
Option Evaluation
- From many possibilities to top priorities
- Tips, tricks and avoiding biases
- Validate options and make decisions
- Manage uncertainties and data gaps
Convincing Stakeholders
- Effective stakeholder management
- Storyline your presentation
- Make better slides
